Aircraft simulator training at Momentum Flight Training includes simulators that replicate the systems in the Canadair Regional Jet 200, 550, 700, and 900 American airlines to enable pilots to experience flying regional aircraft in different environments.

Our experienced instructors create a safe and supportive environment to help pilots learn about controls, systems, and operations without panic in usual and emergency situations. Familiarizing themselves with the aircraft helps them comprehend mechanisms and confidently handle dangerous flight situations.

Continuous advanced flight training through simulators allows even experienced pilots to polish their skills and improve flight accuracy. They become adept at dealing with different usual and emergency situations. Different types of aircraft simulators exist to recreate the sophistication and physical movements of a flight.

#1- FFS (Full Flight Simulator)

These heavy hitters are one of the most expensive teaching equipment with state-of-the-art visual and motion capabilities. They’re further classified into 4 levels—from A to D. Level D is known for having the most sophisticated requirements, including realistic cockpit sounds and six degrees of motion.

All Full Flight Simulator levels are evaluated objectively against aircraft testing or validation data to confirm all flight control and ground handling characteristics and aerodynamics effectively represent the series, model, and make of the aircraft. Pilots often use this simulator to earn type-rating even if they haven’t yet experienced flying the actual plane.

#2- FTD (Flight Training Device)

FTD or FBS (Fixed Base Simulator) doesn’t mimic the aircraft’s movement but provides a 3D flight experience to pilots through the cockpit with realistic sound and visual effects. This type of simulator aircraft training also recreates flight controls and systems, but the model and programming vary according to the device levels.

They’re further categorized into four levels (four to seven), with levels 4, 5, and 6 applying to wing devices, whereas level 7 applies to helicopters. FTDs are sophisticated enough to prepare commercial pilots or acquire ratings and certificates for transitions, upgrades, and recurrency training.

#3- BATD (Basic Aviation Training Devices)

BITD or BATD has more advanced software and hardware features, leading the FAA to authorize the simulator for designated proficiency and training credits. But the credits are restricted to currency and rating requirements of private pilot certification.

The controls and displays of the device reflect the actual aircraft’s dynamic behavior. When one setting is changed, all appropriate changes must be registered on other flight dynamics. This means they must be reflected accurately on all applicable indicators, displays, and performance parameters in the simulator, just like the actual plane would respond.

#4- AATD (Advanced Aviation Training Devices)

AATDs are a type of higher standard for flight simulators with a more realistic airplane look and feel. Advanced Aviation Training Devices meet all BATD criteria but incorporate additional systems and features that exceed those on BATDs significantly.

Ergonomics representing the class and category of the aircraft flight deck, autopilot, moving map-based GPS display, realistic IFR and VFR conditions rendered by an autonomous visual system, and accurate simulation of all emergency protocols according to the flight manual or POH are some of the provisions.

At Momentum Flight Training, we offer a full-function state-of-the-art AATD that's designed to replicate a realistic feel of the flight deck environment of the Bombardier Canadair Regional Jet.

We offer 1-day, 3-day, and 5-day instructor-led airline simulator training designed to create stress-free hypothetical scenarios to help regional pilots in training transition from smaller aircraft into a role with a regional airline.
